About Karen Madsen

My approach to fertility healing and education is holistic—merging traditional fertility medicine education with ancient practices such as yoga, Reiki, sound healing, and acupuncture. Nutritional and lifestyle education as well as emotional and mental health support are also so important for fertility health. My dream of running a fertility retreat is to empower all of those who want to build their family through natural and assisted therapies.

I have been a fertility nurse since 2014 and registered nurse since 2010.  I received my BA from University of Illinois and then BS in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago. I started my career in cardiac and ICU nursing until the fertility field found me through a series of serendipitous events, and quickly realized I had found my niche and passion.

I spent 5 years working in fertility clinics in and around Chicago, before making the jump to a corporate role at a fertility benefits company where I was a clinical educator and patient care advocate - and then moved into management of our clinical educator team.  I have had the pleasure of working with and learning from many wonderful fertility providers across the country.  I have experience in nearly all things fertility—from preconception TTC to IVF, donor egg, surrogacy, and recurrent pregnancy loss, and love to educate!

A few years ago, I found the practice of yoga which has been life changing on so many levels.  It has improved my physical health, mental health and spiritual health, and I’m currently on a 200-hour yoga teacher training journey to become a registered yoga teacher. I have a lifetime of learning and practice to go, and it has greatly influenced my mission to spread fertility education and empowerment to all who seek to build their family!
